Hello all... I'm new to this forum and I'm seeking your collective knowledge pls?
I'm looking to buy an RS2600 and I think I may have found one. Currently awaiting some detailed photos and description before I book my flight to Europe.
Having done considerable research over the years, I think I'm conversant with most of the obvious stuff (ie stuff you can easily see), but wondered if any owners can advise one the things you cannot see easily, and importantly, if there are any parts that are like hens teeth to find if they are missing.
The car I'm looking at is a facelift, std road car. So the obvious stuff to me will be QZ Engine with all correct Kugelfischer stuff on it (many now seem to be missing the airfilter casing with a K&N type filter fitted)
Bodywork - no rust on chassis, flared front arches, twin GXL lights
FAVO correct wheels Scheels, black headlining, Maplight (or was that optional?)
Single leaf springs correct exhaust system (though as the car has been standing for 10+ years then that will need replacing no doubt)
I have no idea what to look at in terms of front struts? ( though I'm aware they had vented discs)
Should the chassis/VIN plate match /show an engine number?
If anyone is looking to sell one in the UK please let me know?
Thanks, Stuart

Hi stuart, all capris will have numbers on both of the plates affixed to the inner wing that will match the number stamped into the body this will also be the same as the original engine number but don't be shocked if the engine has been changed. Regards Len

Well, I have been sent a photo of the VIN plate and it all appears genuine. Len, thanks for your response.
Happy to paste a picture of the VIN plate here to see if the car is known (is there a register of all known RS Capris?)

Hi Stuart, have replied to your pm, probably not wise to post pics of chassis plates unless you own the vehicle. Regards Len
