Propshaft

Does anyone know if a 2.8 prop shaft will fit the RS?
I am planning to overhaul the original one but that will involve sending away to get balanced. The problem I have is that I don't have space to take it off at home but can use my mate's garage only problem there is it will have to stay outside until the prop is returned. I can't have this as I will not sleep so am looking to put another on so it can be driven back to my house. 2.8 props seem to be fairly cheap and readily available so that is an option as I have not seen a 3.0 for a while.

Hi Phil, not positive but reckon there is a good chance that the 4 speed would fit not sure about the 5 speed.

Hi Phil, not certain if this helps but I have a 2.8i 5sp in my rs, the 4 and 5 speed gearboxes are the same length overall, I’m running the standard prop shaft from the rs, so I’m fairly sure it will fit.

Does anyone have a picture of a genuine RS propshaft they can share with me? There are 2 types of prop for the Capri 3.0gt it appears with different centre CV joints.
