In the rare occasion the sun shines I have noticed quite a few scratches on the windscreen. I am thinking about changing it and have what I think is a MK 2 screen in the shed. Can anyone let me know if all the screens are the same or specific for Mk1, 2 or 3? OR Can they be polished out? They aren't deep.

Hi Phil, I dont think they are the same I seem to recall buying a brand new genuine screen rubber for a Mk1 but when I tried to fit it it turned out to be no good and was a Mk2 item also the later Mk3 has a totally different rubber so that screen will be of no use either. You could try to contact a glazing company and ask their advice or go on line I would have thought they could be polished out. Len.

Thanks Len. I think I will try and see if someone can polish them out. Will try the passenger side first as Steph doesn't really need to see where we are going and she always complains that I am driving too fast.

Vernon got one made by Pilkington and specified no black for a stick on rear view mirror.

Hi, I maybe wrong but I believe the windscreens are the same the difference is that mk2 used a laminated screen mk1 didn't hence the rubber won't fit as the screen is slightly thicker. I changed the screen in my car to the later laminated type and have had no problems. I maybe completely wrong about this, if so I'm sure someone will correct me, and send me to the naughty corner.
