I've asked Len this and very diplomatically he rightly sayas its a case by case based on many variables.
Len does a valuation for me through the RS Owners club. This isn't an agreed valuation, it is a value in writing by someone that insurers recognise through a club that is an expert in the type of car being valued.
I then submit a copy of the valuation and whatever pictures the insurance want and so far they have agreed with the valuation the registrar (in this case Len) has put on my car.
Originally I was insured through the RS Owners Club, but this year I changed to Heritage and they gave a better price and matched my old policy with respect to what it covered. Still I have an agreed valuation and limited mileage.

I'd be delighted to give you an agreed valuation, on the strict understanding I can buy your car at the price I agree...
Luckily of course, as Len will confirm, YNP is in the correct colour, which makes it significantly more desireable on the open market.

Hi Graeme, as already stated as Registrar for the club I am able to carry out insurance valuations for club members, the down side to this is that every member wishing to do this will have to get an HPI check done through the club (not expensive) and once done I can value the car whilst you own it as often as you wish. The other slight problem is that cars over 5k in other words all RS3100's except basket cases I have to do a visual valuation. Should you wish to go down this route you would need to contact Emma at the RSOC office she will arrange the HPI you can pay via card I will then get a copy of the HPI enabling me to value the car at some point, If you are unsure just give me a call. Regards Len. P.S. if you decide to go any other route don't forget to confirm that the car is a genuine Sebring Red RS3100 as Mike has pointed out the colour is soooo important

Cheers Len...its not going to be easy to get you to see her in the flesh...i might get something sorted out up here...although i did stumble across a forum of ford enthusiasts where they were discussing values of RS3100's and well...am not taking her there, either that or it was a forum from the late 80's!!! and your right i do believe this particular colour makes a great deal of difference to the value of a 3100...how lucky i am.... photobucket account now set up...loads of interesting pictures to follow...cheers!!!
