Hi folks.
Thought I'd brighten up the forum with a few pictures from June when I took WGW on the 700 mile round trip across to Northern Ireland and the beautiful Antrim Coast for the big Ford event up at Portrush.
I've sent a whole batch of pictures to Len, so they should be showing up here soon if they haven't already done so.
The weather was mostly kind during my stay there, although WGW certainly got utterly drenched on several occasions. Although she performed reliably, that's not to say that everything remained entirely screwed together or running at its peak. But all in all it was a good shakedown trip, with plenty of pointers as to areas which still need a bit more fettling.
The overall mpg of just over 22 could certainly do with some improvement, although WGW doesn't run a standard engine or carburation, so maybe that's about as good as I can hope for. Much of the motorway mileage was covered at around 85 - 95, which with the long legs provided by the noisy (and since rebuilt) B/W T5 gearbox, is but a canter for WGW in comparison to when it had its four-speed 'box, where even cruising at 70 was an annoyingly 'busy' affair.
Anyway, any questions about the trip, please ask. It's an event well worth doing, and there are some great roads across there to hurtle around on, though maybe not in the wet!

Very good photo's and some very nice cars there! The orange one wasn't bad either. I see Michael thought he was driving a bus at one point and went back to the depot!

Ah yes, that's Newtownabbey Depot, an area of much current unrest just to the north of Belfast, and from where I have collected very many of their redundant buses over the years. All of which proves it was a business trip of course... Don't know about Blakey. More like Flakey perhaps. Oh blimey, we're back to that Diamond off-White paintwork again.

You know, I always thought that beard had grown from a Blakey esq mustache! Diamond off white wasn't exactly the most succesful of ford colours! Mind you, it has been refered to diamond pick-a white!

Very nice pictures sir, thank you.
Makes me a little anxious to get my one over here and a little nostalgic for back home in the 70s.
SYH is currently having new vicious coupling, new distributor, new master cylinder and a full service, hopefully it will then go on its long trip and you will get some photos from Seattle Washington.

Bloody good pics there Blakey and may I say what a smashing colour that car of yours is, Diamond pick a white I'm sure given the choice the individual would of rather picked there nose or even someone elses anything but white. W-why H-have I- it? T-totally E- eediotic ( thanks for your help with this Gareth)
whereas R-really E-extremely D-desirable

Len, since youve brought Gareth into this, I think it only appropriate that Gareth responds (and the fact that I can't think of anything right now!).
Gareth, look at that slur on our pure as the driven snow, the noblest of all colours, cars?, Are you gonne let the good ol boys with their orange ve he cals get away with this? You wait for this len, you'll rue the day you slurred the mighty Gareth! Well, I think. Gareth? err ;D
