I thought i would share some of the restoration pictures of PFV 874N so some of you can see what may be lurking behind that shinny paint. After having the shell soda blasted, there are some areas that were worse than first expected and some that were better. I am hoping the wife has not noticed that the cost is rising. I will post more pics as it progresses.

dont worry m8 it always get worse before it gets better. i was amazed by some of the toss ups on my car. i found it hard to get my head around what some people are willing to do to there cars. your car is in good hands so it will all come good. looking forward to seeing the pics

Great pictures phil! I did have a bit of a nose around your car when it came back from blasting, as I was dropping off some parts for Stuart. Having seen yours, it's something I definatly want done to mine. I've seen the results of poor sandblasting with rippled roof panels, but no signs of anything like that on yours. It looks to be a superb process!

Not sure how the price would compare with sand blasting or stripping by hand but i would assume that there is not much in it. I can say that Soda blasting gets into every nook and cranny without causing any extra damage. Not one bit of that lovely, striking, unusual, red/orange colour left at the end!

Point taken.....Obviously it is not my intention to upset anyone, i know there is a certain amount jealousy surrounding the rarity of the orange cars.

Well, you guys are right when it comes to the rarity of Orange cars. Orange wasn't even mentioned in the sales brochure, the closest being 'Sebring red' ;D!!! You do know, however, that the official title is 'Burnt Orange' right? This comes from the colour a car is when it's been burnt out ;D

Some more progress photos from Stuart (Restore a Ford). He is doing a sterling job but keeps finding bits of the dreaded brown stuff! This is the work a so called friend carried out just after i bought it. Note the repair panel welded over the top of the rusty old one. I think the sills need replacing. Repairs to the drivers seat mount.

I wouldn't be too hard on your friend. It's all down to standards. Some people think that's the way things are done! Plus, to do it right is considerably more involved. Look on the brightside, you got a repiar AND you got to keep the original 'A'post! That there is genuine RS rust. Sweep it up and put it on ebay! Yep, the sill has seen better days, but it's nice to see a sticker adding to the structural integrity!
