Hi all, I have just joined in order to learn more about these wonderful cars and may even consider buying a 3.1 to restore at some point? When I was a young lad my father owned a 1970 3000GT XLR which had been modified by Luton motor co. to Broadspeed spec and was a great car, very fast! Unfortunately it began to suffer from rust issues so he swapped it for a V12 E Type but always said the Capri felt as fast? I remember visiting the local Ford agent in Nottingham with Dad and there were brand new RS3100 Capri's in the showroom. They looked great and since then I have always been curious about them. I have restored a few classic cars in the past and have limited welding, painting and mechanical skills. I wondered if you would be kind enough to share your wealth of knowledge of the marque? Are parts available especially body panels etc and are they complected cars to restore? Any advice would be very welcome
Many thanks Ash

Hi Ash, and welcome always good to hear from another Capri enthusiast, unfortunately body panels indeed most parts for the Capri especially the Mk1 are very difficult to find probably the best source would now be E-Bay, but be aware when new items crop up they will be very expensive, my advice to you and anyone that shows an interest in an RS Capri would be to guy the best that you can afford as it will save you a lot of grief in the long run. Thanks for the advice I will take it on board!
Now that Capris are getting valuable is there a business opportunity to remanufacture panels etc for these cars?

Hi Ash, possibly Expressed Steel Panels are making quite an extensive array of body panels/repair sections, the only problem I can see is the amount that would need to be sold to cover the cost of the tooling I would not have thought there would be that many left to restore or worth restoring nut you never know.
