Have to agree with Wayne, nice car and nice colour. About 15 grand in real money, thats actually a very good price! If I had it, that vinyl roof would be right off! Looks vey clean though.

Must say, I always rated a vinyl roof. Don't think I've seen one before on a 2600 though.
Looks great on a yellow car too. In fact, I'd rather like this car for myself!
But one mortgage is quite enough...

Actually, I quite like vinyl roofs, but I'm just not keen on them on a mk 1. My Mk 2 has one, which I like, but just not so keen on them on a mk 1, plus I'd be a stickler for originality, so that would have to go. Does look good in that colour combination though. Plus they have to be black. I'm not keen on other colours. all personnal preferabce though! And yep, if I had the space and spare cash, I'd certainly be looking at this one! Would be a pleasant trip to go and pick it up!

You say you are a stickler for originality and I.m sure you are with regard to the RS model, however I would wager that the vinyl roof was originally fitted to this car dont forget the RS2600 had pretty much every option available, another slight stumbling block is that allthough Mike likes the combination of the Yellow/ Black I have a sneaky suspicion that this car could have been Tawny Metalic.

ooh, my 'sticlker for originality' statement may have to be withdrawn. The vinyl roof would have to go, BUT my all time favorite RS2600 colour scheme would have to be the blue over white...so the yellow may have to go as well! I'd rather it be an original blue over white car though. Neverless, looks a superb car!

I notice Len that quite a few RS3100's in your picture gallery have vinyl roofs.
Would any have left the factory like that, or are they all likely to be dealer-fit jobbies?
Seeing that to fit a vinyl roof properly used to be a pretty skilled affair, I can't imagine many Ford dealers that I've encountered doing a good job!
I seem to recall that they were quite often fitted to cars to compliment a Webasto folding sunroof - you know, the type that gave a car big-time scuttle shake. Fortunately, not many RS's seem to be blighted by those horrible cheap looking pop-up 'moon roofs' which were all the rage in the 70's and 80's and seemed to be (badly) fitted by Tom, thingy and Harry. (most amusingly, it's changed the word D*** to thingy!)
I have to say though that if mine had come with a properly done vinyl roof, I'd have happily left it on. MN

Hi Mike, no cars left Halewood with vinyl roofs all would either have been dealer fit or specialist I suspect most were dealer. And I'm with you Vernon Blue over White awesome colour scheme for facelift car, I actually walked away from my RS2600 when I first saw it to go and look at a Blue over White car as this was the colour I had my heart set on only to be gutted when I saw it, it was trash.
