After talking to Len, I have at last sorted proper insurance for TBL. They have, however, asked for pictures showing the number plates on the car. Plus pictures from the sides, front and rear. Oh dear, this necessitates some rapid progress in the brakes and wheels and number plate attachment departments, so I can actually roll TBL out of the garage for the first time in 'ahem' a number of years!
Stand by for images coming shortly...I feel aggrieved I'm being forced to make progress!

As much as it would be easy to use an image of Gareth's car, I guess I should use this as a kick up the ass and get moving. Hubs off last night, replaced the discs with nicer ones...allegedly new, but I suspect they are refaced 'previously enjoyed' items. I've also put on new disc shields, but I want new bolts for the third fixing (5/16 unf x 1/2) so waiting for those. then it's hubs back on, calipers and pads on, brake pipes and I may even see just how good tat NOS master cylinder is. I suspect 'not very' as NOS items have a habit of rusting inside! we will see! Won't stop me getting the old girl on her wheels!

Vernon, if you have any spare time, could you take some measurements of your discs that you have removed? A friend of mine has had some discs made previously and they were quite reasonable. He is going to contact them to see how much they would be for the RS. I was going to take the measurements off mine but they are on the car so a bit tricky.
Cheers Phil

Sure, no problems. What are you looking for, thickness and diameter or some more dimensions?

ep, got it. I'll take the measurements this week. If things look reasonable, I can led them a disc if that helps

Well, finally some update pics, using imgur...seems ok... So, one door done: Rear seats done Interior getting there: new brake discs...well, new to me anyways! and put the new back plates on...3 ltr items...as Len has said, there were some slots on the RS3100 items. I was juist waiting for the small bolts that are the third mounting point of these sheilds, which arrived today! and rear axle done....a few bolts to tighten and look, lights! More updates as they happen!

Hi Len, I'm using imgur imgur.com/seems to be easy to use, upload your images, then you can choose a link: This shows an image and the link options I have..I use the BBcode. some more pictures Waiting for some lock nuts for the brake hose and I'll get the brakes all buttoned up and bled!

well, bloody hell, unusually, the progress continues! Bled the brakes and the NOS master cylinder seems fine...right now. Bench bled it and it was fine...but had to tweak all my unions up tighter to get leak free seals. and...back on her wheels for the first time in maybe 4 years?...could be 5!

Dropped off the original wheel nuts for chroming and some other bits and pieces for plating which should see most things in the engine bay done! Tomorrow I'll be wheeling the old girl out for a wash and photo session for insurance. I'm going use the snow foam stuff to gently lift the dust. Even have a front number plate on.....although will get new ones, but in exactly the same style..pressed.
