Hello everyone, I'm a classic car fan and collector from Italy. It's a long time I'm hunting for a MK1 RS 2600 and now I thought I've find one. But something is not clear. The car looks as a 1 st serie with small taillights and has a soft race preparation ( no bumpers, stripped off interior, roll cage, tuned engine) but body is original, no wide wheelarch. Seller says all original pieces are available to put back on the car. But I found a quite strange thing: the serial says it was manufactured in Saarlouis on November 1972, so it should be a facelifted model, right? Is it possible that they produced a small tailight model 2 months after the restyling? I still have to inspect the car but the seller says the tail is absolutely original.

Hi RSfan, if you PM me the details of the car I can confirm for you what model it is, If as you say it was built in Nov 1972 it will be a facelift model and will not have Escort Mk1 rearlamps my only question is does the chassis plate and the Chassis Number stamped next to the strut top on the O/S inner wing match? Regards RScapriman
