Well Gents, a very long overdue update on SYH 66N,
Its been a very long year for many difffrent reasons, firstly my travels have been crazy and then on the car I had lots of trouble with mechnical issues ??? which I wanted to get sorted in the UK. The mechanic I used is a guy I had always had really good results from and he worked for Ford in the day, so he and I were totally confident of him being able to go through everything and make it right before coming stateside.
I wont bore you all with the tons of money and time I spent trying to get things right, but me being in the US did mean things moved really slowly. In the end I had to send it somewhere else and it got sorted. I then wanted another car I have owned for 12 years in the UK to come in the container with the Capri ( BMW Z1) and that became a paperwork issue over here.
This is all now resolved and the Capri was picked up this morning by the shipping company with the Z1.
So expect to hear a little more from me in the future, I am guessing there might be some funny stories along the way, becuase Capris over here are considered puny little things, the americans are in for shock.
best wishes
Pete

Glad the capri is on it's way now, although shame you were messed around. It'd very difficult finding people who take a genuine interest working on these cars, which is why I guess most will do a lot themselves. The capri got some decent write ups in the press in the US back in the day, but I think they always got hit with the smog controls that stiffled the performance. Look at what Ford US had out at the time. The Mustang 2. Oh dear. 135hp from the 5.0 version. Oh deary me.
I think the European capri has a fair following there, but I'm guesing any meetings won't be around the corner!

Nice to hear thats it's on its way, But I must admit I was Never sleeping well with my car on its way to OS. But the wait is worth while when you open the doors and are greated by that rear spoiler. Mines been here for 6 weeks and i have only drove it once, but out on the open road, what a car. I just must remember that the big numbers on the speedo are mile per hour, not the kph our speed limits is in here. Hope you enjoy it. Owen

Owen For a moment there, I thought you said it had been there 6 weeks and you'd only driven it once! Right, we need excusses pretty d**n quickly. We have: Bad weather, I was washing my hair (well some of us), I was making something out of wood (lens favorite one) My personal favorite, my battery blew up (don't worry Gareth, your secret is safe with me) I spent so much time decorating I forgot to get an MOT A rogue squirrel drove it like it stole it and a particularly weak one from Julian 'I sold my car'. So come on Owen what's the excuse!?!?!? ;D

Well Vernon, your right on a couple of those points. Weather, its nuts, and hasnt stopped raining. I was going to take it to the QLD all ford day a 2000k trip there and back but lucky i didnt as we got caught in a hail storm but managed to get the 3 cars going up into some random farmers barn. ( we had a RS31, mk1 RS Focus and Mk2 RS focus). Im a cabinet maker and im allways making something out of timber . Battery, Has a dead cell, but is fine wounce going... But you cant get up Julian about his excuse, as its true. But when the weather gets better, it still might not get out, It might get sunburn. Cheers Owen

Thanks for the good wishes gents,
You all defintely make me smile with the pops at each other, I miss that part of back home, everybody here is so d**n politically correct, they are always worried about saying the wrong thing.. Needless to say, i get in trouble a lot, especially from the wife:-).
Just heard from the shipping company and the boat will be here on the 6th Dec, lets see how long customs take after that?
I promise this car will get driven, I do have a few other cars, so I cant say how much, but I am a great believer in driving my cars.
Just a small story, I have a 64 E type over here, its won every show its been in and never been on a trailer (touch wood) In August becuase of the 50 year thing it was invited with 5 other great E types to a major show in this corner of the US, all 5 other cars came out of trailers and I was cleaning the bugs from the front of my car, becuse of driving down the motorway to the event, guess who won the E Type class.........cars are meant to be driven and you will be pleased to hear I drive them, often like they are stolen:-)
Regards
pete

Julian, ask away. After a slight lack of cooling which resulted in a modicom of failure to proceed, myself and Leonard marvelled at the assorted scantily clad totty and we forgot all about the parade lap. So what were you looking at?

Gents, Firstly a Happy New Year to everybody. I have at last got the Capri from the container ship/docks in Seattle, connected the battery and drove her straight home with a big smile on my face. All I have had a chance to do is clean it and smile a lot, also explain to a few people over here what it is and start making a list of the things I want to do.........I can see it is going to be an ongoing list but its the same with all cars, so I am used to it. As soon as I can get it to some iconic site, I will send some pictures over. What am I talking about, there is one iconic site here - The Space Needle - but I will have to find out where the vantage point is for car pictures. I already have one question, does anybody know where I can get the large RS 3100 stickers for the rear spoiler, its going to make my life a lot easier over here if people can just read that. Please excuse me if I don't get on things quickly or take time to reply, I do have a few cars and I have to do that silly thing called work to pay for this crazy hobby :-) regards Peter
