Strange, the self same car is offered for sale by Private Treaty with H& H at Buxton. Contacted them, stated owner want £15k for it. Bearing in mind the below posts, it seems 'somewhat overpriced'. I was interested, but the comments below have put me off. Think I'll be hanging on to my 10k from new RS500 until a nice, low mileage, original-pannelled car comes up. Whci reminds me, does anyone have a nice, low mileage, original-pannelled RS3100 for sale?

Hi Andy, your going to struggle to find a low mileage original paneled RS3100, If your seriously interested then I suggest you wait for one of the cleaner examples to come up for sale and grab it quick. RScapriman.

It's a real shame the owner seems to be over pricing this car really, as someone could make it into a very nice car, for the right price. Still, he may revise his expectations if no one comes along. The market will determine it's true value, ie what someone is willing to pay.

Hello all, I'm a bit of a 'lurker' here as I have an interest in RS Capris. I found the following link which popped up in a recent search, looks like the car referred to is up for sale again with a revised estimate. www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/classic-car-page.php/carno/70094Maybe it's better value at the low estimate? I might be able to get to that auction and see the car in the flesh.

I was talking with the owner of the garage where RRY was painted & he reckons the owner may be struggling a bit financially. The owner has also put his 2.8i capri up for sale, the one previously owned by Cliff Richard Garage owner reckons the ferraris will be next

Yes I had heard that the 2.8i was to be auctioned.

Just checked the results. RRY sold for £10,000.00, plus another 1K, I guess for the buyers premium plus VAT. Not a bad sum at all really. A little short of the 15k wanted and waaaay short of the reputed 20 to 25k originally wanted. Where the owner plucked this figure from is a bit of a mystery, but the market has spoken. I hope it's found a good home!

Would 11k be good value for this car, assuming it's not a reshell?

Would 11k be good value for this car, assuming it's not a reshell? Jamie Difficult to say without seeing the car and knowing exactly what has been done, but there is a fair chance this was a reasonable deal. Certainly better than the 20-25k originally mooted as what the owner wanted!

I met the owner at the NEC Classic Car Show in 2006 just after the restoraton was finished and he said the car was worth an easy £20K and when I met him last year he said the cars were appreciating in value so would be worth getting on for £25K.
Like Vernon says, no idea where the owner picked the value he originally wanted for the car. Hope the new owner contacts Len so we know where it has gone to and that it has a good home.

Interesting when people talk about values. 20K in 2006 and last year 25K doesn't make much sense. If you look at what these cars have actually sold for when they come up, which to me, is at least an indication of values, 25K is completely out of sync. Apart from plucking a sum out of the air, his value may be based on what he spent on it for restoration, or an accumulation of what various owners have spent on it, plus inflation which isn't realistic. Mind you, if it is, anyone want to buy a 25k Mk 2 capri?!?!?!?
I think I can reliably say that his car was worth 11k! I hope we do get to see it out and about though!

Yes I would agree with Vernon assuming that the car has not been re-shelled then even though it is far from a concours example (as I have been led to believe) it would be worth 11k. If anyone gets to hear of the new owner please ask them to get in touch. RScapriman.

Saw RRY in the flesh for the first time in many years, great to see it out and about again it sold for a great deal less than the previous owners predicted 20k-25k. After talking to the new owner he is convinced that the car has indeed had a replacement roof panel etc as reported and is trying to contact the guy who did the work. Hopefully we will see this old girl out and about next year. RScapriman.
