Saw this one in Pistonheads: www.pistonheads.com/SALES/1118635.htmIn the magazine article it has this huge Britax sunroof. From the pictures on pistonheads, I can't make out if it's still there or not. It will be interesting to see what it goes for.

Hi Vernon, was auctioned last sat I believe have not heard what it made, no dissrespect the the owner at the time but I had a chuckle at the comment " was considered to be of good enough quality" I dont think it had done a great deal since that feature yet the current owner only valued/paid approx 4k for it!!!!! and your correct it did have a webasto type roof and it also had very poor fitting panels and a fair bit of poor filler work to the scuttle and roof areas so either an awful lot of work/panels has been put into the car or it has been re-shelled!!! if the latter then the price should reflect this.

Hi len, the add says it will be auctioned at Blenheim palace on the 18th, so tomorrow, but they may have got their dates mixed up!
I dug out the old article to take a look, as I seem to remember the article wasn't quite the concourse rebuild the add alludes to!
In that case, I doubt it will make anywhere near their estimate, but stranger things have happened I guess.

The current owner is well known to Len and I Here a few more pictures of the 'restored car' which were sent to me in September 2006 and as you can see those on the web site are the same as these: this is another car in his colection which apprently once belonged to Sir Cliff Richard! and some more of his collection The owner is in the background on this whom Len may recognise and the dog apparently ate the leather gear knob from the RS. I am lead to believe the paint job is first calss and was an absolute bargain, don't know how much but certainly less than the £3k I paid for a full respray for an Escort Cosworth. I've often been told things are cheaper in Scotland but surely not that much. Assuming the same guy owns the car that Len and I have dealt with in the past I would personally urge caution and give the car a thorough check over first before contemplating making a bid.

I spotted this a couple of weeks back and forwarded it to Len.
Doesn't look that special to me judging by the fots, and unlike Nick, I've always viewed Olympic Blue as the colour which least does the RS justice. Just goes to show how subjective paint colours are!
Unless it's very much better in the flesh I'd be surprised if it makes £10k.
Incidentally, given the wide and very eye-catching colour schemes available on the RS2600, it's always amazed me that RS3100's came with gold stripes only, which really don't do the model justice on some paint colours.
Always thought white RS's would look great with red decals, yellow with orange, green with silver etc.
But what do you folks think?
Mike

They guy has a nice collection of cars! Love the garage! I'm not so keen on body kitted Mk 3's though. The cliff Richard link doesn't add anything to the value for me personally, but hey, some may value this! If he wants 20 to 25k for his RS, I guess he'll be hanging onto it for a while. I really can't see how he's come up with that value. 15k was a very good offer I think, but if he gets more, good luck to him! I would want a near concourse car for this and I have the distinct feeling this isn't quite there. It's up on the coys website as well: www.coys.co.uk/auctions/lot.php?auction=91&id=56677and once again they mention 'Fords own Heritage magazine'. I must have missed that one , as my copy says 'Ford Heritage is totally independent of the Ford motor company'. So technically, they should state 'was considered to be of good enough quality to feature in a magazine. About Fords'. Lets see what happens over the weekend. I'm just interested really! It would be nice to see it out and about in the future, as it's always nice to see an RS3100, particularly in a rare colour! Well, I kinda like the gold stripes on the RS, but what I did like was some of the paint options on the RS2600. White with marine blue bonnet and other details is my favorite! When my daughter see's a picture of mine, she thinks it needs colouring in! I need to find a Modena green felt tip, but don't tell Phil I like Green as well. I'll never hear the last of it!

The green mustang is nice and it's right hand drive (coys) link. Sebring is the best colour. ;D

I agree with Vernon Nicks offer of 15k, was very reasonable in my opinion for an RS3100 to be worth 20k it would have to be concours and an original shell ( no panels replaced and extermely low mileage) then you would have to find the right buyer. I also am a fan of the gold decals but would agree with Mike they do not suit all RS3100 colours best contrast would probably be Marine, Modena or Sebring. The same guy who owns RRY 179M previously owned Julians car YXF as I sourced the car for him quite a few years ago it was in Exeter at the time, 2 brother each owned an RS3100 julians Sebring YXF 568N and a Stardust YXF 84N.

The mustang is nice. A 390 as well! right hand drive must be fairly rare as well, plus the highland green is an iconic colour. I quite like them in white though. It's faster. obviously. ;D

Well guys I've had a report from a chap that went to Coy's auction with a veiw to buying the car he told me that from 5 paces the car looked average things went downhill the closer you got, there was very little history and no documentation of what work had been done. The bidding went to 7k only and the owner would not accept anything less than 15k after the auction!! so it would seem he is still the proud owner of the car and it looks like Nick had a lucky escape. Len.

Interesting Len. If the restoration wasn't done that well in the beginning, then you could well be buying something that will need a significant amount of work in the future, in which case 15k is very over priced. It's interesting what some peoples view of 'near concourse'is! Maybe he's referring to one occasion where the car was parked near to a concourse car! ;D the seller has to remember that as great as RS3100's are, there are not many capri enthusiasts with 15k burning a hole in their pocket, so he's selling to a very small market. And us Capri guys talk! (some would say I do more than my fair share of that! ). I'm sure a car will come up, Nick, but you may have to buy a car that needs work rather than a concourse car, but a relativity unmolested car would be a nice basis! Does not sound like this car would be a good proposition at 15k and I'm sure if you know your capris, that 15k probably wouldn't ave been on the table once you'd seen it! And the search goes on!
